Day 16: Batman Returns and Batman Begins

Batman Returns

Whose Movie: Mutual Buy

Rating: Great
Another Tim Burton Movie :) We learned that Tim Burton's Batman isn't so great at keeping his true identity a secret.  In the first movie, he totally told Vicky Vail, and in this movie, not only did he tell Catwoman, he totally ripped his mask off and revealed his identity to Shrek. But whatever.  What's great about the Tim Burton Batman movies is that you get a backstory on the villains. You get to find out how they became who they are.  This movie was just as great as the first one, and Danny Elfman's score just makes the movie fifty times better (can you tell I'm a Danny Elfman fan?)

Batman Begins

Whose Movie: Mutual Buy

Rating: Awesome
And then we have the reboot of the series.  I think that Tim Burton and Christopher Nolan's Batmans are awesome in their own way.  What Matt and I like about this one is that Wayne Enterprises is actually mentioned, and it's explained that the company is how Batman can actually be Batman.  Matt thought the backstory ran too long, but I thought it was necessary in order to set up the movie and the next one.  A superhero is nothing without his backstory :) Christian Bale makes a great Batman, and Liam Neeson as always if flipping awesome (which makes one wonder why he's in Battleship).

Next up: "The Dark Knight," "Be Kind Rewind," and "Beatles: A Hard Day's Night."
